Life is Better Educated

All I’ve ever wanted in this life was to make a difference. I want someone, anyone to say, “Because of you, I never gave up.” If I am able to make a positive influence on any one person in my lifetime, then my time on this Earth was not wasted, but more importantly, I want to make a difference in my own life.

Growing up in poverty and in foster care has formed not only my drive for success, but also my ability to see the potential in myself and in others. What better way to help myself then to guarantee myself a bright future by getting a proper education?

I believe that everyone has a calling, a purpose, a reason for being here. My calling is to rise above being a statistic. My purpose is to prove to myself that I am better than my past and to give my children a secure future by setting the example.

Whatever talent or interest you have, find it and go with it! Whether it be writing, cooking, acting, educating, public speaking, find out what schools are best suited to your needs. Why waste another day wondering what if? Why live life going through the motions not knowing your true potential?
As an orphan, I learned the hard way that you can’t just go out into the real world without any knowledge, talent or drive and expect to make it. You have to work hard, with diligence, never faltering, in order to make your dreams come true. Getting a degree in your chosen field is the first step towards accomplishing your dreams!

We’re told our entire lives that if we can dream it, we can do it. So, what are you waiting for? There are Universities, technical schools, culinary schools etc. There are so many opportunities knocking at your door. All you have to do is answer it.

Getting by on minimum wage will land you in poverty. Why spend your life struggling and living paycheck to paycheck? Set goals for yourself and do something every single day to move towards reaching your goal. I am excited knowing that I have the opportunity to become educated in my craft so that I can get my college degree and will one day accomplish all my goals! Getting an education will enable me to earn a good living and provide for myself and my family. I will no longer live in poverty or live paycheck to paycheck.

Did you hear that? Opportunity is knocking. I better go answer the door.

My Life as of Now and Where the Future Lies

Finally, my ambitions are going to become a reality; soon, I will have everything I need in life. A warm family, a cozy home, and a loveable life that I can call my own. It was kind of a rocky start in the beginning of middle school. I wasn’t doing too well with my classes since I slacked off but thanks to some encouragement with some new found friends; I was able to endure all the hardships that came my way and was able to go through it. I even got a girlfriend for some time; quite an exciting part of my life indeed.

In high school, I started to seriously consider what and where my future could be. I started looking into various subjects and trying out each one to see where I might have excelled in. I honestly found computer science to be very alluring considering how all the world is heading towards technology and the advancements towards computers; it wouldn’t be such a bad idea at all. High school was probably the best time to think about these things before time started to grasp and tug against me at a rapid pace. Good thing the internet was around so I could just look around online at my leisure.

Of course during my free time, homework was getting piled up a bit so it was getting a bit difficult to juggle between the various activities and that wasn’t the only thing either. There were also friends too and we would occasionally get into fights but I had to be firm about my decision to think about my career. I tried to also do some community service in my local area to attempt to influence my career and strive to increase my reputation as a good upstanding member of the community. It would also be good to have something like that to be able to put in my list of things I can write about when I do applications for future jobs I may have.

Once I got out of high school, I decided to look for a part time job at a nearby retail store to try to accumulate wealth to fund my trip to college. Good thing is I also applied for financial aid pretty early to try to help bolster my chances of getting in. I attempted to put in as much information about me into the form so it would skyrocket my chances at getting aid. My family was very supportive at all the decisions I made that led to where I am now and promised them I would do whatever I could to make them happy which includes getting a great career. I recently got approved of financial aid and I was very excited for it. My major is still computer science but as for specifics I am undecided; but, I am sure I can figure it out once I fully explore what the adult world of college and education has to offer.

One Dregree From Freedom

I never look at my degree hanging up on my office wall and regret a thing. I took a lot to get my degree and my parents paid a highe price, but in the end I made my parents proud when I finished school and became a registered nurse. It’s not easy going to school when you have kids. I earned my degree before I decided to start a family. I love the way that I decided to wait before I had kids. Getting my degree was time consuming. They didn’t have hybrid classes when I was in school.

I had to go to the local community college and then the start my local (4) year university later. My degree is in practical nursing. I had to get a certificaion in biology, medicine, and a list of other things. I had to follow the plan of my education advisor if I wanted to be successful. It wasn’t long before I was almost finished with community college. The tuition and fees were hiked twice while I was trying to get my degree. I didn’t know what I was going to do if the cost of tuition and fees kept rising. Eventually, I had to take out some student loans in order to get my degree.

Students loans must be paid back and with the interest I didn’t to pay mine while I was in school (great decision). Although, my loans were still high. By the time I was getting out of community college I had $10,000 in student loan debt. I didn’t think I was ready for a (4) year college, getting my degree was costing me significantly already.

It was imperative to get into a school that had a lot to offer in terms of my nursing goals. I quickly went out and enrolled in that (4) year. I wanted to make sure that I had a shot at a Bachelor’s Degree. It wasn’t long before I was almost done with school, but I still was mounting on that srudent loan debt. I took a break from school and began working in a clinic as a CNA. In fact, a certified nurses aid. That was the start of my nursing career. I did what I had to do and didn’t let anything stop me. I worked long hours, but I loved what I was doing. I got my degree and it now pays the bills. I wasn’t sure at first, but I did it. I have decided to keep striving to get an education even though I have got my degree. It is important that I stay current in the medical field. It wasn’t the easiest thing that I’ve done, but it wasn’t the worst either. If I had it to do all over again I would. I would recommend that anyone looking for a better career and a better way of living go get their degree. Funding made me question my degree, but I did get it eventually.
